David Ray Martinez
Oct 10, 1952 — Sep 15, 2018
David Ray Martinez
(Oct.10, 1952 - Sep. 15, 2018)
David was born and raised in Waynoka, OK. He entered the USAF from 1972-1976 stationed at Bergstrom AFB, TX, with temporary duty in Germany. After serving, David returned to Waynoka for two years but was compelled to move out West to Denver, CO where he took up roots and immersed himself in city living. He quickly embraced the downtown lifestyle, attending many cultural and sporting events throughout the city. Many would say this is where he thrived.
David was many things: a loving father, loyal friend, coach, athlete, a connoisseur of music, audiophile, artist, philosopher and so much more. He loved the English language and was one who could command intelligent conversation on anything from sports to fashion to design to US history and politics, even on to humanitarian issues from around the globe.
David is preceded in death by his mother, Carmen Martinez, father, Antonio A. Martinez, brother, Tony Martinez Jr., brother, Ernie Martinez and brother- in-law Leon Lambert.
He is survived by son, Marc Martinez (wife Miranda) of Enid, OK, sister, Carol Lambert of Madill, OK, sister, Virginia Munn (husband Glenn) of San Antonio, TX, brother, Daniel Martinez of Woodward, OK, sister, Lydia McKee (husband Robert) of Fountain, CO, brother, Gilbert Martinez of Dallas, TX, several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations sent to Romero Family Funeral home.
