Della Ulibarri

May 31, 1928 — Jul 19, 2020

Our beloved mother Della Ulibarri earned her angel wings on July 19, 2020 surrounded by her loving family. Her journey into life began on May 31, 1928 to Luz and Filomena Nuanez in Trinidad, Colorado. At an early age her parents moved their family to Brighton living there for several years before eventually settling in Denver. She met the love of her life Abelino to whom she was married to for over 50 years. They raised a family of 5 daughters in their small home in northeast Denver. They moved to their dream home in unincorporated Adams County in the early 1970's where she was living at the time of her passing. She taught her daughters to be strong independent women for which they are forever thankful. The love for her family was forever present whenever any of her daughters and their families came to visit Grandma Ulibarri. Her face would light up. When it was time to leave, she would always say "I love you" and give each a kiss. She was an excellent cook and her daughters carry on her recipes for her famous red chili, menudo and posole, and who can forget her delicious enchiladas and torta de huevo just to name a few. She loved to watch her "Stories" and telenovelas with her partner in crime Lucille. She loved to listen to Dad's music which included Glenn Miller and Frank Sinatra. And we can't forget her Denver Broncos. She was a devout Catholic praying the rosary and attending daily Mass until she no longer was able. Even on her last day she was trying to recite the Divine Chaplet as her family prayed for her. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt to her loving family. She is survived by daughters Priscilla (Jimmy) Torres, Beverly (Hank) Gonzales, Valerie (Robert) Amador, Lucille Ulibarri and grandpuppy Delilah Ulibarri; 11 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, and 3 great great granddaughters; sisters Viola Romero and Rosie Gregory; and sister and brother Shirley and Slater Simon. She is preceded in death by spouse Abelino Ulibarri, daughter Shasta Ulibarri, grandson Justin Torres, grandpuppy Gizmo Ulibarri, parents Luz and Filomena Nuanez, brothers Henry and Mel Nuanez, and numerous nieces and nephews. For those of you invited to Mom's services, we ask that you wear purple which was her favorite color if possible. Due to COVID-19 we are not able to give Mom the services we would like. A public viewing will be held before her services on July 29th at 9:00 a.m. - 9:30 a.m. Her services will follow and are by invitation only. Face masks are required.
