Dennis Castro

Dennis Castro was born to Pablo and Shirley Castro on December 3, 1959 in Denver, Colorado and born and raised on Denver’s East Side. He departed this life peacefully in his home on August 7, 2026.

Dennis was affectionately known by his nickname, “Dad,” a name that suited him because of the way he looked after everyone in the family. He loved being the boss and making sure everyone was taken care of. Dennis had a way of making the people he loved feel important, remembered and supported.

He was always on the phone catching up with family and friends. When he talked to you, he wanted to know not only how you were doing, but how the people you loved were doing too. Even if he did not have a direct relationship with someone, if they were important to you, they were important to Dennis. He was incredibly supportive, loyal and genuinely interested in the lives of those around him.

Dennis was a proud member of the Chicano Movement and the Crusade for Justice. He graduated from Escuela Tlatelolco, an experience that remained an important part of who he was, his culture and the community he came from.

He loved Mexican music and oldies, fishing and spending time at his aunt and uncle’s property in Saguache, Colorado. He also loved to cook, especially his mother Shirley’s recipes. Dennis was an excellent cook and much to his family’s disappointment, those treasured recipes went with him.

Family was at the center of Dennis’s life. He had an incredible and unwavering love for his parents, especially his mother, Shirley. He carried that love with him throughout his life.

Dennis is survived by his brother, Dino Castro, his uncle Chuck Enriquez and his wife Rosann, his aunts Irene Castro, Emily Rivera, Sarah Duran, Becky Ulibarri and Jenny Rodriguez, his nephews Adrian (Desiree) Martinez, Simon Castro, Pablo Castro and Anthony Muniz as well as numerous cousins and friends who loved him dearly.

He was preceded in death by his father, Pablo Castro, his mother, Shirley Castro, his brother, Danny Castro, his paternal grandparents Roque and Mikaela Castro, his maternal grandparents Albert and Annie Enriquez, his aunt GeGe Nuanes and several beloved aunts and uncles.

Dennis’s absence will be deeply felt by the many people whose lives he touched. He was a constant presence, someone who kept family connected and someone who never hesitated to remind the people in his life that he cared about them.

If you knew Dennis, you knew he carried a deep love for his parents and missed them tremendously. As painful as it is to lose Dennis, there is comfort in knowing that he is reunited with his parents and brother.

A reception will be held at the American Legion Post 21 500 9th St, Golden, CO 80401 2pm-5pm
