Gerald Lee Martinez
November 17, 1959 — May 21, 2026
Gerald Lee Martinez Sr., fondly known to many as Jerry, passed away peacefully on May 21, 2026, in Lakewood, Colorado. Born on November 17, 1959, in Denver, Colorado, Jerry was a man whose spirit and warmth touched all who knew him. Surrounded by his loving family when God called him home, his presence leaves a lasting impression of love, laughter, and generosity.
Jerry’s life was a vibrant tapestry woven with humor and kindness. Known for his quick wit and playful pranks, he had an uncanny ability to bring joy and light-heartedness into any room. But beyond the jokes, he was deeply loving and giving, always ready to help those around him with not just money but anything he could offer, a true testament to his big heart.
A gifted cook, Jerry delighted in preparing Mexican dishes that nourished both body and soul. His specialty – beans, green chile, and rice – was a beloved staple that carried the essence of his heritage and home to family gatherings. These meals were more than food; they were a way he expressed love and connection.
Jerry’s passions extended far beyond the kitchen. A devoted sports fan, he cheered passionately for the Broncos, Nuggets, and Avalanche, finding joy and excitement in every game. He also cherished shopping, playing cards, and soaking in the rhythms of music, activities that brought him happiness and moments to share with those he loved.
Above all, Jerry was most proud to be a father and a grandpa—a role he embraced with tenderness and pride. His joy shone brightest when playing and spending time with his grandkids. Whether it was a quiet moment or a lively afternoon, his laughter harmonized beautifully with theirs, creating memories that will forever echo in their hearts.
Jerry is survived by his sons, Gerald Jr. and Steven; his daughter, Jasmine; his grandsons, Jeremiah, Isaias, and Donovan; and his granddaughters, Elizabeth, Isabella, and Heavenly. His sister Leora remains a cherished part of his family circle. Each one carries forward the legacy of a man whose love was unconditional and whose spirit was unwavering.
He is lovingly remembered alongside his late parents, Valentina and Leo Martinez; Sister Debrah Ann Segura, his twin sister, Sharon Gonzales; and his beloved spouse, Loretta Martinez, all of whom shaped the man he became and whom he honored throughout his life.
Visitation will be held on June 12, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Romero Funeral Home-Denver, located at 4750 Tejon St, Denver, CO 80211. A memorial service will follow at the same venue from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM.
