Nov 14, 1973 — Jul 18, 2025
Heidi Martha Maestas
Beloved Daughter • Sister • Wife • Mother • Grandmother • Friend
Heidi Martha Maestas passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family. Known for her strength, warmth, and quick wit, Heidi’s presence was a source of comfort and joy to all who had the privilege of knowing her. Born to Matilda Avila Sanchez and the late José L. Sanchez, Heidi is preceded in death by her cherished family members: Bersilla and Lucas A. Sanchez, Leondro Avila, and Maria A. Tafoya Avila. Heidi’s greatest pride was her family. She is survived by her husband, Steven Maestas, and her children: Joseph Suazo Jr., Anthony Suazo, Steven Maestas, Miranda Maestas, Mario Maestas, and Fernando (Samantha) Maestas. Her deep love continues through her grandchildren—especially Sophia and Elizabeth Maestas, who were the light of her life. She is also survived by her devoted siblings: Maria C. Sanchez Stewart, Nancy (Patrick) Sanchez Vaughn, and Joe E. Sanchez. Heidi was a proud and loving aunt to Nicole Vaughn, Kristen Stewart, Jennifer Vaughn, Patrick Vaughn Jr., James J. Stewart, Johnathan Stewart, Vanessa Sanchez, Aaliyah Sanchez, and Victoria Sanchez. Her legacy of love and care extends to her great-niece and great-nephews: Austin, Christopher, and Alicia Stewart. Heidi was the heart of her family—a true matriarch whose door was always open, whose table was always full, and whose spirit was always generous. She will be remembered for her boundless compassion, her fierce devotion, and her ability to bring laughter into every room. Her memory will live on in the stories shared, the traditions continued, and the love she gave so freely.
