In Loving Memory of Herbert G. Roeller, Jr.
Herbert G. Roeller, Jr. was born in St. Paul, Minnesota, on November 26, 1935, and passed away peacefully at the age of 89 in Lakewood, Colorado, on November 11, 2025.
Herbert—lovingly known as Herb, Husband, Dad, Grandpa, Brother, is survived by his 6 children: Susan Motzko (Rick Motzko), Jan Morris (Kevin Morris), James Roeller (Debbie Roeller), Theresa King (Vincent King), Nancy Roeller and Mary Roeller; his 17 grandchildren: Patricia Vowels (Jim Vowels), Luke Simonson (Jennifer Simonson), Sara Pray (Ryan Pray), Mitch Simonson (Amanda Simonson), Joey Johnsen (Mi-Young Johnsen), Danny Johnsen (Sally Hutcheson), Gerald Roeller’s daughter Zoey, Nathan Roeller (Casey Roeller), Cassie Gordon (Joey Gordon), Katie King, Jessica King, and Rachel King-Fehringer (Justin Fehringer), Jacki Kaiser (Justin Lynch), Hannah Hendricks (D’Anthony Valenzuela), Holli Hendricks (Gaige Wisse), Trish Daily, Mathew Daily; and his 26 great-grandchildren: Elyse Storlie, Olie Storlie, Celia Storlie, Colton Simonson, Evelyn Simonson, Berkeley Simonson, Gavin Simonson, Tyler Wicker (Katie Wicker), Colin Herbert, Judah Johnsen, Esther Johnsen, Ariel Johnsen, Luke Johnsen, Monika Johnsen, Selah Roeller, Brooklynn Gordon, Aubrey Gordon, James Gordon, Greyson Fehringer, and “Baby Fehringer,” due in January 2026, Kadin Lynch, Austin Lynch, Hannah’s Baby due in December 2025, Paislee Wisse, Lainey Wisse. Siblings; Kay Schneider, Walt Roeller (Paula Roeller), Mark Roeller and Paul Roeller (Lynda Roeller).
He was preceded in death by his parents - Herbert G. Roeller, Sr. and Lenora Roeller; his wife - Rae Roeller, daughter - Ann Marie Roeller, son - Gerald Roeller, daughter - Karen Carroll, and grandson - Chris Johnsen.
He grew up in St. Paul, with his parents, sister and brothers.
He spent his childhood summers in Minnesota enjoying many family gatherings at Prior Lake; living is his swim suit, swimming, home made ice cream, boating, fishing, fresh caught Sunnies’ fish fries, and Grandma Kennedy’s home. Plus winters, ice skating, hockey and speed racing on those skates.
Herb and Rae met at the Paramount Theater in W. St. Paul in 1950 and after his Military service - Navy, Herb and Rae were married on January 30, 1954 at St. Matthew’s church, Minnesota.
He worked on the railroad - Burlington Northern for many years, he studied and became an amazing barber in MN and opened his own barber shop - Marcus of Denver in Colorado. Herb and Rae moved their 8 children to Lakewood, Colorado in 1972. He was active in the Knights of Columbus and baseball for many years.
Achievements; he biked the event called "Ride the Rockies" 3 years in a row with his wife - Rae. They both also toured on the bikes along the coast of Maine. Another trip they took on bikes was from their home to Canyon City, Colorado and back home again.
Favorite activities, baseball, bowling, skiing - snow, bicycle riding/ racing, Bronco & Avalanche games in person or on tv, saying the Rosary every morning. Attending children and grandchildren holiday parties, sports and concerts.
Free from pain, he is now at peace with our Lord—and we will forever be grateful for the gift of his love.
Please join us Monday - 24, November, 2025 at St. Jude Catholic Church to celebrate Herb Roeller's passing to Our Lord's House. Viewing begins at 10:00am followed by the Rosary at 10:30am with Mass at 11:00am followed by gathering in the church lobby till 12:30pm then out to the burial site by escorted procession - Golden Cemetery by 1:00 pm. Lastly, an Open House at Vince & Theresa's home from 1:30pm - 5:00pm. St. Jude's location: 9405 W. Florida Avenue, Lakewood, CO. Golden Cemetery Location: 755 Ulysses St., Golden, CO.
