Jenny Prien Vigil
Nov 10, 1942 — Dec 21, 2024
Jenny was born November 10, 1942, in Rocky Ford, Colorado to Edna Avila and Fred Prien. Jenny is proceeded in death by her mother Edna, her father Fred, Husband Jimmie, Son Richard and brothers Gilbert, Joe, Danny, James, Sammy and George. She is survived by her sister Lorraine Prien-Amaro, daughter Lena Vigil-Garcia and son in law, Gilberto Garcia. Grandchildren, Darryl, Anthony, Irene, Ruben, Keith, Brandy (Rico Bustamante), Allen and Nicole. Great Grandchildren, Lydia, Santana, Noah, Christian, Tyler, Ruben Jr, Francisco, Aria, Julian and Isabella. As well as beloved cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Jenny worked at the movie theater as a teenager where she would eventually meet the love of her life, Jimmie, who she would marry in 1960. While Jimmie was enlisted in the US Navy, they got the opportunity to travel the country together, which was a first for them both. From there she pursued her career in retail management at Montgomery Ward and retired after 36 loyal years. Jenny was an avid reader, sports fan, camper, and proud fisher, but most of all she loved being involved in her family's events, including sporting games, concerts, and a multitude of birthday parties. Jenny could always be found either in her garden, playing bingo, or convincing her husband Jimmie to take her to the casino. She was an active member in her church, and a devoted Catholic. Jenny fought a courageous battle with acute myeloid leukemia and required weekly blood transfusions until the end of her fight. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that friends, family, and acquaintances consider giving the gift of life, in the form of donating blood directly to your local blood bank, in honor of Jenny. Donations made to the National Leukemia Foundation would also be appreciated. On January 10, 2025, Jenny will be laid to rest with her husband Jimmie at Fort Logan National Cemetery, following mass at Spirit of Christ Catholic Community.
