Joan G. Maldonado
It is withheavy hearts that we announce the passing of Joan Maldonado of Denver, Colorado, who peacefully departed this life surrounded by her loving family at the age of 71. Joan was a devoted mother, grandmother, and friend, whose warmth, wisdom, and kindness touched all who knew her.
She is survived by her beloved children, Joel Swazo, Julian Swazo, and Destiny Muniz, as well as her cherished grandchildren, Joel Swazo Jr., Diego Swazo, and Giovanni Swazo. Joan’s family was the center of her world, and she found great joy in spending time with them.
A proud graduate of Annunciation Catholic High School, Joan continued her education at Metropolitan State College and later retired from the Denver City & County Courts.
Joan had a deep appreciation for life’s simple joys. She loved traveling, soaking in natural hot springs, and exploring new cuisines. A passionate moviegoer and avid reader, Joan found comfort and inspiration in stories. Her favorite color was purple, and she especially loved Birds of Paradise flowers. Joan also had a deep love for music, particularly R&B and oldies, which often filled her home with warmth and nostalgia.
Above all, Joan believed in being a strong representation of yourself and your family. She lived by the values of staying true to your word, striving to be the best version of yourself, and keeping faith in the Lord.
Joan’s presence, wisdom, and unconditional love will be deeply missed but forever remembered by all who were fortunate enough to know her.
A celebration of Joan’s life will be held on January 10, 2024, at Guardian Angels Catholic Church in Denver, CO. The Rosary will begin at 1:00 PM, followed by Mass at 1:30 PM.
May her soul rest in eternal peace.
