Leonard J Zaragoza
Mar 15, 1953 — Oct 13, 2026
In Loving Memory of Leonard Joseph Zaragoza Sr.
March 15, 1953 – October 13, 2026
Leonard Joseph Zaragoza Sr., lovingly known as Leo, Uncle Lenny, and Big Len, passed away on October 13, 2026, at the age of 73. Born on March 15, 1953, in Longmont, Colorado, Leonard leaves behind a legacy of unconditional love, laughter, and devotion to his family that will continue for generations.
To know Leonard was to know a truly special kind of person. He was a family man through and through, a man whose love knew no bounds and whose presence could brighten even the hardest of days. He had a gift for making people laugh, bringing people together, and making those around him feel welcome. Whether through a joke, a story, or simply being himself, Leonard had a way of turning someone’s entire day around. His humor was one of his greatest gifts, and his laughter was something he freely shared with the world.
Leonard also had a deep love for music and karaoke. Singing was one of his greatest joys, and he was known for moving from one spot to another, visiting local bars and The Eagles to grab the microphone and do what he loved. He frequently competed in karaoke contests and brought home plenty of wins along the way. Whether he was singing for a crowd, sharing a laugh with friends, or simply enjoying the music, Leonard knew how to make a moment memorable. His love for singing was another way he brought people together, and those who heard him sing will always carry a special memory of his voice.
Above all else, Leonard loved his family. He believed family was one of the most important things in life and that the time we share with one another is something to be treasured. He embodied a love that was patient, forgiving, and unconditional. He never allowed resentment or grudges to outweigh the love he carried for others. His heart was big enough to make room for people, even when life was difficult. He showed those around him that true love is not always about what we receive in return, but about what we choose to give.
A proud Denver Broncos fan, Leonard found joy in the things he loved most. His family, his grandchildren, music, and the moments spent laughing with the people closest to him meant everything. He was the kind of man you don’t meet often in this lifetime. His warmth, humor, and genuine love left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.
Leonard’s legacy lives on through his children, grandchildren, siblings, and all those whose lives he touched. He passed down something far greater than words could ever fully express. He passed down a way of loving others. It is now up to those who follow him to carry that love forward, to continue showing up for one another, to forgive, to laugh together, and to cherish the time we have as a family. His life reminds us that the way we love people, the kindness we show, and the memories we create can continue long after we are gone.
One song that will forever remind his family of Leonard is Marvin Gaye’s What’s Going On, a song he loved and sang. It was more than just a favorite song. It was a part of the memories he created with his family, including singing it to his son when he was just a baby. Its message, “For only love could conquer hate,” reflects the kind of love Leonard embodied throughout his life. He showed his family that love is stronger than resentment, that forgiveness matters, and that choosing to love others is one of the greatest things we can do. Long after his voice has fallen silent, the songs he sang and the love he shared will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
He is survived by his children, Leonard Zaragoza Jr., Christopher Zaragoza, Anthony Zaragoza, and Jesse Dominguez. He also leaves behind his beloved grandchildren, his siblings, and many other family members and loved ones who will forever hold him close in their hearts.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Julie Ann Rendon, and his stepfather, Bennie Frank Rendon, who was an important part of his life. He was also preceded in death by his father, Charles Zaragoza, and many other beloved family members who have gone before him.
Though his passing leaves an immeasurable emptiness, the love he gave will never leave us. His jokes will be remembered, his laughter will be missed, and his lessons will continue to guide his family long after his time here has ended. We will miss his voice, his presence, and the moments that may have seemed ordinary at the time but now mean everything. We will carry those memories with us and find ways to keep his spirit alive in the way we live and love.
May we honor Leonard by continuing to love one another the way he loved us. Without conditions, without resentment, and with open hearts. May our family continue to stand together, cherish one another, and pass that love down to the generations that follow. If there is one thing Leonard leaves behind for us to carry forward, it is the reminder that love is something we choose, something we give, and something we must never stop sharing.
Rest in peace, Dad. Your love lives on through all of us. Your songs will keep playing, your laughter will keep echoing, and your love will continue through every generation that follows. You will forever be loved, remembered, and missed.

Calling All Broncos Fans! Let’s Represent for Leonard!
In honor of Leonard’s love for the Denver Broncos, we’re inviting family and friends to wear their Broncos gear to his service. Jerseys, hats, shirts, hoodies, or anything Broncos are welcome. This doesn’t have to be a formal affair. Let’s come together, represent his team, and celebrate our guy in a way that would make him smile.
And if the Broncos aren’t your team, that’s all right. Just please leave the rival team gear at home. We don’t need that kind of disrespect at Leonard’s service!
