Karen Lee (Hansen) Brewer

May 12, 1942 — Sep 10, 2026

Karen Lee Brewer, age 84, of Mountain Home, Idaho passed away peacefully at her home on September 10, 2026.

Karen was born on May 12, 1942, in Bend, Oregon to the late Harold and Vallie Hanson. She was the fourth of five children, including Wayne, Janet, Beverly and Jon. Karen met Renner Brewer and moved to Mountain Home, Idaho, in September of 1976 to raise their five children, Carolyn (Steve) Strom, Jeanette Adams, Renner (Laura) Brewer, Jr., Kenny Brewer, and Brenda (Rob) Garner.

She was a loving grandmother to Natalie, Leslie, Jonathan, Christopher, Justin, Jeremy, Caleb, Joshua, Allie, Taylor, Kaleb, Nick, Henry, Reid and Sarah, and great-grandmother to Bryanna, Braydon, Bryson, Brylie, Blayklee, Bexley, Cameron, Isabelle, Lilly, Evelyn, Dean, Theodore, Ezra, Timothy, Avery, Kimber, Elijah, Josie and Lucas.

Among the many jobs that Karen held during her lifetime, which included being a baker, a grocery store clerk, and a church secretary, the most notable was working at Taco John’s. She was a staple there for over 35 years until her retirement. When she wasn’t making tacos or eating bean burritos with super-hot sauce, she loved to square dance, play the piano and crochet. She made beautiful blankets for her grandchildren which are still in use today by her great-grandchildren. One of the hymns she loved to play on the piano was “Blessed Assurance.”

“Blessed assurance, Jesus is mine; Oh what a foretaste of Glory divine! Heir of salvation, purchase of God, Born of His Spirit, washed in His blood. This is my story, this is my song, Praising my Savior all the day long.”

-Fanny Crosby

Karen was preceded in death by her parents, brother Wayne Hanson and sister Beverly Moody, husband Renner Brewer, son Kenny Brewer and grandson Jonathan Jacobsen. She is now resting and rejoicing in her Savior’s arms reunited with all the ones who went before her.

“Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live.” (John 11:25)

Karen was a very special woman and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
