Robert Charles Cunningham

Robert C. Cunningham (Bob) of King Hill, Idaho, passed away on August 21, 2026, at the age of 93. He lived a full life—one built around family, hard work, friendship, and more adventures than most could fit into a lifetime.

For 73 years, Bob shared that life with his bride, Elaine Ireda Heath. Together they raised a family that became his greatest legacy: Susan (Gary) Nelson, Becky (Mike) Cooper, Paul (Jeannie) Cunningham, and Thad (Marti) Cunningham; 13 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandsons.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Lois Cunningham; his son, Thad; granddaughter, Rachael Cooper; and son-in-law, Mike Cooper.

Bob proudly served in the Army from 1955–1958, including time stationed in Europe and Germany. He later worked for the Forest Service, fighting fires and marking timber, and for Salmon River Co-op.

Bob had a lifelong passion for carpentry and took pride in building things with his own hands. With the help of family and friends, he built the Cunningham Bed and Breakfast along the Snake River in Glenns Ferry, Idaho.

Bob loved hunting, fishing, reloading, playing his guitar, and listening to country music—especially Willie Nelson. He had a deep love for the outdoors and old-time traditions. He and Elaine shared many happy years attending mountain man reenactments and rendezvous with friends.

Bob never met a stranger. He enjoyed visiting with people, sharing a good story, and making others feel welcome.

Later in life, Bob became one of Jehovah’s Witnesses and treasured his weekly Bible study with dear friends.

Bob will be deeply missed. His stories will be told for years to come, keeping his memory close and reminding his family of a life they were lucky to share.

In accordance with his wishes, no formal service will be held. Bob will be laid to rest with his son, Thad.
