Valere Hunt Hegerhorst crane

VaLere Hunt Hegerhorst Crane died July 19th, 2026 in Kent, WA at the home of her son, Daniel Hegerhorst.

Funeral Services will be held Friday, August 21, at 11:00A.M. in the Grandview LDS Chapel, 37873 Highway 78, Grandview, ID. Burial will be in the Bruneau, ID Cemetery.

VaLere was born July 17, 1930 the ninth child (last living) of George M Hunt and Eugenia Roberts Hunt in Bicknell, Wayne County, Utah. Raised on the original homestead. She graduated from Wayne High School Class of 1948, and attended LDS Business College.

She married William Hegerhorst on May 5, 1949 in the Salt Lake City Temple. He died in 2006. She married Danford Leroy Crane in 2019. He died in 2024.

VaLere was always very active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving as a Blazer leader, Relief Society President, and missionary in the Las Vegas Mission. Accomplishments include: National Cleanup America Award for town of Alpine, Silver Beaver Award from Boy Scouts of America, 1st women mayor in the state of ID for the town of Oxford, ID. Decades were spent involved in 4-H, from sewing, cooking, gardening, raising animals. She spent the last twenty years making and donating over thousands of quilts for civic auction and the less fortunate.

VaLere is survived by her 6 children, Georgene Wild (Paul), Grant William (Cathleen), Mark William (Marla), Harold William (Wendy), Daniel William (Janice), and Hope Elaine Jones (Ricky). Her posterity includes 27 Grandchildren, 87 Great Grandchildren, 16 Great- Great Grandchildren.
