Charles Limp

Dr. Charles “Chuck” Limp, age 90, of Phoenix, Arizona, passed away on July 31, 2026, in Phoenix.

Chuck is survived by his children, Jeff Limp, David Limp (Danielle), and Jillann Demes; his eight grandchildren, Jason, Joshua, Jeremy, Jonathan, Dylan, Duncan, Davis, and Jacob; four great-grandchildren, with more to come; and his longtime companion and dear friend, Mohammed (“Tony”) Al-Marimi.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Freida Limp; his brothers, Bill and Stewart; his son, Kevin; his former wife, Joyce; his daughter-in-law, Jan; and his niece, Rebecca.

Chuck was born on March 8, 1936, in Danville, Illinois. He attended Broadlands Grade School, schools in Danville, and Newman High School before continuing his education at Eastern Illinois University. In 1957, he entered the University of Illinois College of Medicine in Chicago.

After earning his medical degree, Chuck completed a three-year pediatric residency. He was then commissioned as a Captain in the United States Army Medical Corps, serving at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. Following his honorable discharge in 1966, he settled in Wheaton, Illinois, where he became one of the founding physician partners of the Glen Ellyn Clinic (now Duly Health and Care). There, he had the privilege of caring for generations of children and their families until 1989. He later joined Illinois State University Student Health Services in Bloomington-Normal, where he continued practicing medicine until his retirement in 1999. Following retirement, he made his home in Phoenix, Arizona.

Chuck loved caring for people. Whether treating children, reassuring anxious parents, or working alongside the nurses he so deeply respected, he found purpose in helping others. He often spoke with great gratitude about his nurses, crediting their skill, guidance, friendship, and unwavering support throughout his career.

Even years after his retirement, it was not uncommon for someone to recognize him while traveling and introduce themselves as one of his former pediatric patients. Whether in the clinic, around town, or on an airplane, these chance encounters with adults who still remembered Dr. Limp from their childhood were a testament to the lasting impression he made on generations of families.

Retirement gave Chuck the opportunity to enjoy running, eating out, traveling on cruises, and, above all, spending time with family and friends. While medicine was his calling, his greatest pride was his family, and he cherished watching his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren grow. Those who knew him will remember his quiet sense of humor, his genuine kindness, and his lifelong dedication to caring for others.

In accordance with Chuck’s wishes, he was cremated. No memorial service has been scheduled at this time.
