OLSEN, Frederick Olof, Age 90 of Oakdale, MN. Fred passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 3, 2026. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 52 years, Judith (LaBarre) Olsen, his parents Raymond T. and Muriel (Skoglund) Olsen, parents-in law, John and Verna (Arvidson) LaBarre, sister, Mary Lou (Olsen) Sather, brother and sister-in-law Lawrence and Beverly (Edlund) Olsen, sister-in-law, Marilyn (Fahs) Olsen, sister-in-law, Margaret (Steinhaus) LaBarre, his son-in-law, Walter Fasulo and a grandson, Andrew Bakke.He is survived by his loving children, Ruth (Derrick) Bakke; their six children, Jacob (Rebecca) Bakke and their children, Sarah, Joshua, Abigail and Micah; Nathan (Andrea) Bakke and their children, Judah, Josiah and Naomi; Daniel (Cierra) Bakke and their children Samuel, Levi, Gabriel and Emsley; Rachel Bakke; Hannah Bakke and Dustin Bakke; Karen Fasulo and her two children, Joseph (Ruthey) Fasulo and their children Evelyn and William; Emily (Petey Conner) Fasulo and their children, Ziahiar Conner, Ameriah Conner, Tru Conner, and Mazen; Karla (Michael Smith) Nelson; and James (Sandra) Olsen; brother, Dr. Milton C. (Phyllis) Olsen; brother-in-law, Jack LaBarre and brother-in-law and sister in law Thomas (Leann) LaBarre. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews and their children as well as many other extended family and friends.Fred graduated from Cambridge high school and went on to attend Bethel college where he was part of the Bethel Men’s Chorus. He worked for 3M Company for 35 years and was responsible for several patents during his years at 3M such as patents for wound staplers, breathable eye patches and Steri-Strips. He began learning Norwegian at 3M in a company sponsored foreign language class and remained lifelong friends with his classmates well into retirement. He loved Jesus and told as many as he could about how Jesus died for their sins so that they could be in heaven for eternity. He was a long-time member of The Heights Church in Saint Paul and participated in events and bible studies at the Salvation Army Church. He was a student of life and studied God’s word daily. An avid wood carver, tutor, bowler, magician and children’s storyteller, he liked to have fun wherever he could. He brought joy and love to all who encountered him. A funeral service for Frederick will be held on Saturday, June 6, 2026 at 3 pm at The Heights Church, 1845 Hyacinth Ave, St. Paul, MN with a visitation held the day prior on Friday, June 5, 2026 from 6-8 pm at Sandberg's Funeral Home, 2593 E. 7th Ave, North St. Paul, MN.
