Margie Clare Peterson

August 16, 1934 – July 9, 2026

Margie Clare Peterson passed away peacefully in the early morning of Thursday, July 9, 2026, at the age of 91.

She was born in Balsam Lake, Wisconsin, in a log cabin. Her early years were spent in Cincinnati, Ohio, where she lived close to a zoo and later moved to Milltown, Wisconsin and St Paul, Minnesota. Her family eventually settled in a home on Point Douglas Road that she described as a scene from Heidi. She grew up attending First Lutheran Church and spending summers at Bay Lake Camp. She graduated from Harding High School in 1952 and married Keith Peterson in 1953. They moved to White Bear Lake in 1956, where they lived for the remainder of the lives.

She was organist for St Andrews and Lakeview Lutheran Church and sang in the Elizabethan Syngers group at the Minnesota Renaissance Festival for many years. She enjoyed sewing, needlework, and Norwegian rosemaling and language classes. Together with Keith, she enjoyed spending time shopping for antique dolls, books, toys and chairs. In later years, warm days were joyfully spent watching for birds, monarch butterflies, wild animals and fireflies on the back porch of her home.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Adeline and Walter Bublitz, and husband, Keith. She is survived by daughter Roxanne Jean Carder (Michael); sons David Keith (Sharlyn), Gary Bruce & Thomas Luther; grandchildren Sonja Cahhal, Jenessa Carder, Laura Peterson & Bradley Peterson (Denim); great-grandsons Zander & Tyson Luckow and other relatives and friends.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, July 15, at 11:00 AM at Union Cemetery, 2505 Minnehaha Ave E, Maplewood, MN 55119. A gathering will be held at Christ the Servant Lutheran Church at 3676 Centerville Road, Vadnais Heights, MN 55127, (Lakeview Lutheran’s new home) following the service.
