Norma Alice Goodson 89yrs. May 29, 1936 – May 17, 2026

Faithful Loving Daughter and Servant of her LORD and Savior~

Gentle, fiercely determined, and wise, Norma poured her life out serving with expertise in practical ways so the gospel of Jesus Christ would be perpetuated both in hers and successive generations!

She had a heart for justice expressed in ministry to the poor, orphans, and homeless. Norma and Roger were foster parents for many years and adopted one of them, Michael! In addition to the pastorate they served at South Side Mission, Salvation Army, and the Christian Jew Hour.

Norma owned a taylor business for some time serving people with her extraordinary gift. With a scarcity of space we won’t write a book on her life here, though it would be inspiring reading. Instead, we will award her gold medals from the Olympics of Life.

Champion of Praise to God – She often dodged inquiries about her current trial; instead she’d chant,

“I praise Him for every day He gives me”.

Norma LOVED: her family, trouble shooting and fixing things, sewing, quilting, reading: especially biblical prophecy and Christian novels, gardening, strawberries, and Kit Kat; and yet her greatest JOY was to SERVE so the gospel would advance.

She is now enjoying an epic reunion & celebration with Jesus, her parents Hans & Martha Hiltscher, two brothers Erwin & Dick, her husband Roger & 2 children Becky & Steve.

Norma’s brother John, sister Ruthie, 3 children, 15 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandson are looking forward to their Blessed Hope and longing for the day He splits the sky at the culmination of all things, when death will be no more.

Graveside Gathering: Saturday June 6, 11:00am at Cedar Memorial, Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Norma’s grave site: Lakeview, Lot 82, Space 6. It is very near “the garden of angels” on the northeast side of Cedar Memorial. There’s an entrance to CM on 1st Ave. NE.
