Ruth Elsie Huether, 88, of North St. Paul, Minnesota, passed away surrounded by family on October 17, 2026.

Ruth is survived by her husband, Roger Adelsman; her children, Randy Adelsman (Kimberly) and Renee Olson (David); her grandchildren, Chase (Laura), Brett (Hannah), Tyler (Isabel), Autumn, Kobe (Madelynn), Trey, and Genevie; great grandchildren, Jazlyn, Oscar, and Charlie; sisters, Sara Gaeth and Linda Johnson; and sister-in-law, Karen Adelsman.

Ruth is preceded in death by parents, Elsie and John; and brothers-in-law, Russ Adelsman, Dave Gaeth, and Duane Johnson.

On July 31, 1938, our beloved Ruth was born in Lisbon, North Dakota to Elsie and John Huether and began her life on the family farm. Ruth was born 15 months after her sister, Sara, and years later Linda was born to complete the trio. The three sisters shared many good laughs, strong opinions, and a remarkable resemblance.

As a young girl, Ruth knew nursing was to be her future. Not only did she share her passion for helping others, but she also excelled and pushed herself to learn more as she challenged herself in as many areas of nursing as she could. She was a Public Health Nurse, an OB Nurse, worked for the VA, a Home Health Nurse, a Social Worker, and retired from St. John’s Hospital working as a charge nurse on the Telemetry Unit. Ruth was and always will be respected for her knowledge and compassion for her patients. She shared a glimpse into her kind heart by emphasizing that holding a patient’s hand and listening was just as important as administering medicine. Nursing not only fulfilled her passion, but also lead her to her future.

Ruth met her husband, Roger Adelsman, in Fergus Falls, MN shortly after he returned from the Service. She was the county nurse in the same office as her future brother-in-law, Russ. When she moved to the Twin Cities, Roger followed. Married April 15, 1967 they lived in Minnesota, then made a short move to Iowa and returned to Minnesota where home would remain and their family would grow. Ruth and Roger were married 58 inspiring years, creating a love story renewed as they navigated the ups and downs life has to offer. Their journey together through a fall, hip replacements, a stroke, breast cancer and dementia all reflect the love and loyalty Ruth and Roger held for each other throughout God’s plan.

Ruth will be remembered for her compassion, faith, gift of prayer, and love for her family. She filled her years being a busy body: gardening, sewing, completing home projects, thrifting, staying active in her church community, and always saying “Yes!” to babysitting her grandchildren. She will be missed as our adored wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, and great grandmother.
