Oct 10, 1953 — Oct 6, 2026

Gary R. Schenck, 72, of Fort Atkinson, WI passed away on Tuesday, October 6, 2026 surrounded by his family after a short battle with cancer. His greatest wish was to be reunited with the love of his life, and we know that she was waiting for him with open arms.

Gary was born on October 10, 1953 to the late Ray Schenck and June “Betty” Judd in the city of Wisconsin Rapids. He lived in the Bancroft area as a child, and moved to Jefferson when he was in middle school, graduating from Jefferson High School in 1971. He married Barbara Schroedl in 1974, and they were married for 50 years before cancer took her from him in 2025.

Gary worked at Nasco after high school, then as a mechanic for Voeltz Implement for many years, and finally, operated his family’s business, Judd’s Cores, until his retirement. Throughout his life, Gary was an avid outdoorsman and hunter. He was a member of Oakland Conservation Club, and a hunter education instructor there for over 35 years. He had also been a member of the Wisconsin Conservation Congress. In recent years, he found enjoyment in working on his hobby farm, as well as continuing to repair farm equipment for friends and family.
