Marion Margaret Wedl

Marion M. Wedl, 98, passed away on December 7, 2025, at Riverwalk Senior Living in Waterloo, Wisconsin. She was a lifelong resident of Jefferson.

She was born on December 26, 1926, in the Township of Hebron, the daughter of John and Ottilia (Schiferl) Schicker.

She married Ralph A. Wedl on May 1, 1947, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Jefferson. Soon after they married, Ralph and Marion took over the dairy farming operation from Marion’s parents and farmed for the next 23 years while raising their five daughters. In 1973, Ralph and Marion took over as custodians of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church and school before retiring in 1985. They took great pride in the appearance of the church and school and planted many flowers.

Marion was an excellent cook and baker. She was an avid Brewers fan and enjoyed traveling, gardening, bird watching, jigsaw puzzles, dancing, playing cards and bingo. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Marion will be deeply missed by her daughters: Sharon (Robert) Kleinsteiber of Lake Mills, Ann (Randy) Logan of Cambridge, Kathy (David) Nieman of Fort Atkinson, and Connie (Patrick) McDevitt of Kenosha. Her 11 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren: Susan Haberkorn (Jeff Carley) and their son Jaden; Daniel (Becky) Haberkorn and their son Collin; Laura (Brett) Nechkash; Craig (Tricia) Kleinsteiber and their children Kayla (Adam) Loeber and Cole Kleinsteiber; Sarah (Nick) Morrison; Gregory Logan; Brian (Melissa) Logan and their children Landon and Makenzie; Jennifer (Micah) Riecker and their sons Frank and Oscar; Bradley (Brooke) Logan and their children Theodore and Elizabeth; Kelly (Thomas) Banner, and their sons Jacob and Benjamin; Katlyn (Ian) Ashton, and their daughters Evelyn and Brianna. Marion is also survived by her son-in-law LaVerne Haberkorn and her sister-in-law Carol Schicker.

Predeceasing Marion was her husband, Ralph, on October 12, 2011, and her daughter Jeannette Haberkorn on May 2, 2025. Marion was also predeceased by her sister, Marie Klossner and her husband, Fritz; her brother Robert Schicker and his wife, Marion; and her brother Raymond Schicker. Also her husband’s siblings and their spouses: Florian and Lorraine Wedl, Alfred and Doris Wedl, Norbert and Margaret Wedl, and Elizabeth and Roger Teed.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 a.m. on December 17, 2025, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be held at the Church on December 17 from 9:30 to the time of service.

In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider a memorial to St. John the Baptist Catholic Church or Rainbow Hospice.
