Jul 24, 1949 — Oct 8, 2026
Randall “Runt” W. Gerhardt, 77, of Jefferson passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, October 8, 2026.
He was born on July 24, 1949, in Watertown, WI to the late Robert and Dolores (nee Stephan) Gerhardt. Randy grew up in Jefferson and graduated from Jefferson High School in 1967. He honorably served in the United States Marines from 1967 to 1971, which included service in Vietnam as an aircraft mechanic.
Following his military service, he worked as a carpenter before spending more than 25 years at Spacesaver, where he held several positions until his retirement. During retirement, he worked part-time as an over-the-road (OTR) truck driver and held various other driving positions.
Randy enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, camping, playing euchre and bowling. He loved watching sports and was a fan of the Green Bay Packers, Milwaukee Brewers, and NASCAR. Randy also enjoyed quiet time to himself. He will be missed by all who knew him.
Randy is survived by his children, Wendy (Cory) Kopischke, Ethan (Stephanie) Gerhardt and Laura Gerhardt; seven grandchildren, Jonah, Morgan, Makenna, Carter, Leah, Bennett, and Evelyn; his sister, Roberta “Bobbie” Rue; and brother, Stephan “Steve” Gerhardt; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
Private family services will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the VA or to a state or national park in Randy’s honor. Some of his favorite places to enjoy the outdoors were Governor Dodge State Park in Wisconsin and Yellowstone National Park.
The Schneider-Michaelis Funeral Home has been entrusted with Randy’s arrangements.
