David Wayne Johnson

David Wayne Johnson, 64, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, at Cascadia Healthcare in Payette, Idaho.

David was born on December 8, 1961, in Maywood, California. On November 21, 1995, he married the love of his life, Debra Peterson, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, and proudly embraced his role as a stepfather to her children.

A man of many talents, David loved to cook and spent time working professionally in the kitchen. He also had a lifelong passion for fixing bicycles. He always had multiple bikes and spare parts laying around, and his grandchildren hold fond memories of learning how to ride and repair bikes alongside their grandpa. David was a true protector with a vibrant personality and a quick-witted sense of humor. He loved to joke around, tease his favorite people, and gave the absolute best hugs. To many who knew him well, he was affectionately known by his inside-joke nickname, "Penishead."

In 2014, following a series of strokes, David faced significant physical challenges, losing his ability to walk and speak. Despite these hurdles, his spirit remained unbroken, and he famously found ways to communicate and express himself through his signature "Dededede" sounds. In 2016, he transferred to Payette to be closer to his devoted wife and family. His family remains incredibly grateful to the compassionate staff at Cascadia Healthcare for the exceptional care and dignity they provided David over the years.

He is survived by his wife, Debra Johnson; his stepchildren, Doug (Michelle) Parris of Idaho Falls, ID, Janessa (Lawrence) Charkins, Melissa (Ray) Trotter, bonus daughter Brenda Paulsen as well as many grandchildren.

David was preceded in death by his stepchildren, Brandon Parris, Jeremy Parris, and Terri Radford; his parents and his grandparents.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 12:00 PM on Sunday, October 4, 2026, at The Main Event in Payette, Idaho. Friends and family are invited to come share stories, laugh, and celebrate his life.
