Martha Sue Riggs

Martha “Sue” Riggs, 86 of Fruitland, ID, went to be with the Lord on June 18, 2026. She was surrounded by her family at her home and passed away peacefully from natural causes.

Graveside services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on July 24 at Park View Cemetery in New Plymouth, Idaho, under the direction of Shaffer-Jensen Memory Chapel.

A potluck reception will follow at the home of John and Sherri Riggs, located at 4375 Highway 30 South, New Plymouth, ID 83655.

Martha Sue (Burnett) Riggs was born on November 8, 1939, in Council, Idaho. Sue was raised in Boise, Idaho in her younger years but later moved to Fruitland, ID during her high school years. On October 5, 1958, she married the love of her life Bobby Riggs Sr., in Payette, ID. From that marriage came three children, Cindy, Christy & Bobby Jr.

Bob & Sue had numerus adventures together from ranching, running the LaGrande sale barn to racing horses. They lived in Fruitland, Union & Pierce but ended up setting down in Fruitland, Idaho where they raised their three kids among many other rodeo kids that they took under their wing. Both Bob & Sue worked & retired from Ore-Ida in Ontario, Oregon where they made numerous lifelong friends.

Some of Sue’s favorite things were fishing, hunting, camping, snowmobiling, & rock hunting.

Sue was proceeded in death by her parents Fred & Ruby “Johnnie” Burnett, husband Bob Riggs Sr., daughter Christy Riggs Hendrickson & son-in-law Dale Hendrickson, daughter-in-law Teresa Riggs, granddaughter Melinda Riggs.

She is survived by her daughter Cindy (Mike) Fortin, Bobby Riggs Jr., granddaughters Becky (Doug) Williams, Lariann (Nathan) Channer, special great granddaughter C.J. Williams, among numerous other great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and great nieces & nephews.
