Arline Goodman LevitNovember 19, 1925 – September 8, 2025
Arline Goodman Levit passed away peacefully on September 8, 2025, at the age of 99. Born on November 19, 1925, in Chicago, Arline was raised in Chicago, Illinois, spent many years in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and spent the last 42 years of her life in Hilton Head, South Carolina — a place she deeply loved and called home.
Arline was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Edward Charles Levit, with whom she shared a rich and full life. She is survived by her devoted children, Karen Romer (David Steinmetz) and Gary Levit (Dean Soupal), and her cherished grandchildren Tamar Beecher, Elly Clinton, Michah Romer, Tanci Spencer, and Chandler Palmer.
A lifelong lover of golf, tennis, and bowling, Arline approached life with the same passion and determination that she brought to the game. She was known for her razor-sharp wit, unflinching honesty, and an unwavering spirit that never backed down from a challenge. Arline had a remarkable way of taking care of those in need and brightening every room she entered with her good cheer and generous heart.
Her legacy is one of resilience, love, and laughter — a life well-lived, and deeply felt by all who knew her.
A private family gathering will be held to celebrate her life. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Arline’s memory to a charity of your choice.
