In Loving Memory of Darah Denise “Dillon” Roberts

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Darah Denise “Dillon” Roberts, 80, of Hilton Head Island, South Carolina.

Darah passed away peacefully at her daughter’s home on Hilton Head Island, with Mike, her beloved husband of 61 years and the love of her life, holding her hand.

Above all else, Darah treasured her family and embraced life with an extraordinary sense of joy. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, proud grandmother, and treasured friend. Known for her unwavering optimism, kindness, and generous spirit, she had a remarkable ability to find the positive in even the most difficult circumstances. She was always ready to offer encouragement, lend a helping hand, or brighten someone's day. Her warmth and positivity touched so many lives, and her family hopes to carry that same joyful spirit forward in her honor.

A dedicated educator and accomplished businesswoman, Darah owned and operated Hidden Creek Nursery School in Fostoria, Ohio, for 20 years while also pursuing a career in real estate with Hammer & Heinsman.

In 1989, Darah and her family made Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, their home. There, she continued her passion for education as Director of Education at the Lowcountry Human Development Center in Okatie. She later returned to real estate, joining RE/MAX alongside dear friends Lois and Dick Saunders.

Together, Darah and Mike built a wonderful life filled with love, laughter, and adventure. For the past 12 years, they lived their lifelong dream aboard their Hatteras motor yacht, Wanderlust, cruising between Hilton Head Island and ports along the Florida coast. They embraced life on the water, exploring new destinations, forming lasting friendships, and creating cherished memories along the way.

After a lifetime of love and adventures together, Mike will deeply miss his beloved First Mate, his partner in life, love and every journey along the way.

Originally from Fostoria, Ohio, Darah was the cherished daughter of Clyde and Kitty Dillon and the light of their lives. She is survived by her loving husband, John Michael “Mike” Roberts; their two children, son Eric Roberts and daughter Dawn Roberts-McGuane (husband Brian McGuane); and her seven beloved grandchildren, Dillon and Jake Roberts, Brendan and Tyler Lindstrom, Erin and Liam Murphy, and Siera McGuane, each of whom held a special place in her heart.

Though her passing leaves an immeasurable void in the hearts of those who loved her, Darah's legacy of kindness, optimism, and zest for life will live on through her family, friends, and all those fortunate enough to know her.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the dedicated staff and caregivers at AdventHealth Palm Coast Hospital and Florida Cancer Specialists for the compassion and care they provided to Darah and her family.

A private interment service will be held at Beaufort National Cemetery on October 20, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Darah's memory to Memory Matters, supporting its mission to provide education, compassionate care, and hope to individuals and families affected by Alzheimer's disease and other forms of dementia.

Forever loved, deeply missed, and always remembered.
