David Broom

Sep 7, 1955 — Jul 26, 2026

David's life was a testament to hard work, integrity, and an undying love for family and community.

David Broome, a devoted father, grandfather, and craftsman, passed away on July 26, 2026, on his own terms after bravely battling diabetes and neuropathy for many years. Born in Fort Mill, South Carolina, on September 7, 1955, David was the cherished son of John and Aline Broome, who have predeceased him, along with his siblings, Henry, Sarah, and Ernest.

David's life was a testament to hard work, integrity, and an undying love for family and community. His career was defined by his exceptional skill and artistic vision as a master builder. Known throughout Hilton Head and Bluffton for his beautifully constructed remodels, additions, decks, and dream homes, David transformed wood into stunning creations, always infusing his projects with his unique craftsmanship.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, David was a man of simple pleasures and genuine character. He found solace and joy in the tranquility of the water, with a fishing pole in hand and the gentle movement of a bobber. In moments of relaxation, he could often be found watching old westerns, with a particular fondness for John Wayne, sharing a sentiment that "The world's gone to hell since John Wayne died." David was a man of his word, his handshake as binding as any written contract. His generosity knew no bounds, always willing to give the shirt off his back to those in need. He had a knack for storytelling, sharing tales of "back in the day" with a glint in his eye, leaving his listeners both entertained and enlightened.

As a father, David was strict yet loving, instilling values of honesty and determination in his beloved children. He leaves behind a loving family, including his daughters, Catherine Broome and Amber Broome, his siblings Sidney and Frances, and his treasured grandchildren, Mckayla Broome, Joseph Murray, Savannah Fox, Wyatt Fox, and Katelyn Fox. Their lives have been immeasurably enriched by his presence and will forever bear the imprint of his love and wisdom.

A memorial service to honor David's life will be held on September 6, 2026, from 2-5 pm at David's Memorial, located at 73 Shults Rd., Bluffton, SC. As we remember David, we hold close the special message he lived by: "A man's got to do what a man's got to do." His legacy of strength, kindness, and unwavering principles will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know him.
