Stanley Eugene Wade

Stanley Eugene Wade, 76, of Hilton Head, SC, passed away on April 26, 2026 on Hilton Head Island.

Stan was born on August 13, 1949 and raised in Martinsville, Virginia by Roy and Irene Wade alongside his younger sister, Donna. He grew up playing every sport he could, with a particular love for football and baseball, before proudly serving his country as a member of the United States Marine Corps.

Stan went on to build a long and successful career as a newspaper publisher, working with papers across the country and connecting with communities everywhere he went.

In his younger years, he was an avid skydiver, sharing that thrill with a team of close-knit friends. As he became a family man, he traded his parachute for a camera, becoming a skilled amateur photographer who beautifully documented daily life, family milestones, and cherished gatherings for all who knew him.

Stan is survived by his beloved wife, Robin Nicol-Wade; his daughter, Devon Wade; his son-in-law, Drew Hermiller; and his grandson, Henry Wade Hermiller, who was his greatest pride and joy.

He is also survived by nieces and nephews in Virginia and many loving relatives on Robin’s side.

Stan was preceded in death by his parents, six siblings, and many dear friends, all of whom he carried in his heart.

An intimate celebration of life will be held at a later date.
