Walter “Mickey” Garfield, Jr. was born in Savannah on 12-9-35. He and his kids moved to Hilton Head Island in 1969. He is survived by Wally (Marintha) Garfield ,Mike (Bev) Garfield, Bonnie (Jim) McKee, Stepdaughter, Arlene (David) Kicklighter. Grandkids are Amber (Joel) Martin, Heather Walker, Cory (Danielle) Kicklighter, Michael and Jesse Garfield, Walt Garfield, and many great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his best friend and wife of over 40 years, Yvonne Barnes Garfield. He affectionally called her Von and has missed her so much since her passing in 2022. He loved doing construction work with his cousin, John Tilton and friend, Robert Graves. He proudly owned Garfield Construction. He would drink a gallon of sweet tea everyday on the job while listening to country music. He owned 22 different Ford vehicles. He loved camping, boating, cruising, playing dominos, and square dancing. His sister Helen (Frank) Jarvis loved to put puzzles together and just aggravate him. He was on a bowling team with his best buddy Pat Davis and enjoyed their weekly lunches together. If you were ever invited to one of his oyster roast he considered you a friend. His granddaughter Heather has been his caregiver with his great grandson River for years. He loved being promoted to great grandaddy, DAN DAN. Thanks to Jared and Zac. He passed on January 10, 2026, peacefully. He was in his home he built in Pritchardville. He has requested no service.
