Curtis Wayne Forrester,91, of Goose Creek, SC, died peacefully at his home on Friday, May 8, 2026. Born in Woodruff, SC to Cecil and Arthur Dewey Forrester, Curt was one of eight siblings, five boys and three girls.
Curt graduated from Chesnee High School in 1953 and enlisted in the US Air Force in June 1954. While serving, he was awarded the Joint Service Commendation Medal, the Air Force Commendation Medal and The Meritorious Service Medal for outstanding service to his country. Curt and Becky Bonner were married in May 1955. They traveled the country together as the US Air Force stationed them in various locations during their 22 years as a military family. That family included Curt, Becky, and daughters, Jennie and Patty. Curt was an avid golfer, loved to read, and enjoyed all genres of music, especially Southern Gospel.
As a long time-member of First Baptist Church of Goose Creek, Curt served as a Deacon, Sunday School teacher, Church Moderator, Bible Study teacher, VBS volunteer, and choir member. He loved his church but more importantly, he loved and faithfully served the Lord in any capacity that was asked of him.
Curt found love a second time with wife, Avise. They shared fifteen years together as well as a blended family that included a son, daughter, eleven grands and twenty-three great-grands.
He is survived by wife Avise, daughters Jennie Forrester and Patty (Frank) Giorgianni; brothers Cody (the late Barbara), Carl (Betty Ann), and Claudell (Joan); sisters Audrey Jones (the late Wilbur) and Adale Andrews (the late Randall); sister-in-law Barbara Blackwell, Peggy Bonner (the late Dean) and Kathy Linder; grandchildren Jared (Julie Springsteen), Anastasia, and John Paul (Riley) Chrysostom, Rachel(Kevin) Parris, and Carla (JB) Fisher; great-grandchildren Jacob and Ava Chrysostom, Ty, Chase and Eric Fisher, and Gracie and Mazie Parris. The blended family included son, Walter Kirby, daughter Lisa (Vern) Baer, the late Stephonie (Mark) Gutherie.
He was predeceased by his parents, and his beloved first wife, Becky, sister Addie Maude Moseley, brother Charles, and wife Clyta.
A celebration of Curt’s life will be held Saturday, June 13, 2026, at First Baptist of Goose Creek, 141 St. James Ave. Goose Creek, SC 29445. The family will greet friends from 11:30-12:15pm. Service will follow at 12:30pm. Thank you for your many prayers lifted on behalf of Curt and his family.
