David Ross Knight

David Ross Knight, 54, of North Charleston, passed away on May 31st, after a brief illness surrounded by family. He was born on March 6, 1972 at the Naval Hospital in Charleston, SC, to Judy and Fred Knight Jr. He played football, at John Conley field as a child.

He attended College Park Middle School and Stratford High School whee he lettered on the tennis team and graduated in the class of 1989.

He was in the auto sales business for many years with Stokes Honda, Johnny’s Suzuki, Clancy Auto sales, McElveen, and Charleston Kia Country.

He leaves behind two daughters of Summerville, Emma and Addy Knight, his mother and stepfather Judy and Bob Poindexter, his father Fred Knight Jr (Barbara) of Rural Hall NC. Step sisters Stephanie Healan of Sumter, Cindy Poindexter of Summerville, and step brother Keven Poindexter of Kentucky. and Uncle Mike Ross (Sharon) of Jacksonville, Uncle Robert Knight (Denise) of SC, and Cousins Mandy and Barry Childress of SC, and Dawn Rumey (Keith) of SC, Tod Tucker (Gracie) of SC, Jennifer Ottaway(David) NC, Chris Ross (Trish) NC. As well as many nieces and nephews, and many cherished friends of all generations.

David enjoyed cooking, especially grilling out and he loved going out on the water on boat rides on the rivers of Charleston.

David had dogs all of his life, in particular a deaf dalmatian Molly whole he loved. Of late he had acquired cats who just “arrive” at his home. Donations in David’s memory may be made to an animal shelter of your choice.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2 pm Saturday, June 13, 2026 at Simplicity Lowcountry, 281 Treeland Dr Suite C Ladson, SC 29456.  The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
