Jette Ward (1944–2026)

Jette Ward, 82, of Summerville, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on September 4, 2026, surrounded by dear friends.

Born in Copenhagen, Denmark, in 1944, Jette grew up alongside her parents’ flower shop next door to their family home, instilling in her a lifelong love for flowers and gardening. Gifted with an extraordinary facility for languages, she was fluent in Danish, English, French, and German. Her linguistic abilities and sharp professionalism led to a distinguished international career as a secretary. While working at NATO, she met the love of her life, Conrad Ward. The two shared a devoted marriage of 45 years before his passing.

In 1976, Jette immigrated to the United States, where she continued her career as an accomplished legal secretary. Beyond her professional life, Jette will be remembered most for her generous spirit, quiet thoughtfulness, and sincere devotion to those around her. Her life was defined by caring, warmth, and an unfailing readiness to provide whatever was needed. She took a genuine interest in the lives of others, caring deeply for her family and circle of friends. Her faith and community spirit shone through her fellowship at Wassamassaw Baptist Church in Moncks Corner, where she gave generously of her time and resources. Jette found great joy in hands-on charitable outreach, faithfully gathering supplies and packing Christmas shoeboxes for families in need each year. Her steady kindness and gracious presence left a lasting impression on everyone who knew her.

Jette was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Conrad Ward. She is survived by her nephew, Kasper Hudtloff of Denmark, as well as dear friends who became family.

A memorial service celebrating Jette’s life will be held on Thursday, October 8, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Simplicity Lowcountry Cremation and Burial Services in Ladson, South Carolina.
