Joshua Daniel Carter

Aug 16, 1990 — Jun 14, 2026

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Joshua Daniel Carter, born on August 16, 1990, in Charleston, South Carolina. He peacefully left this world on June 14, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Joshua was the cherished son of Billy Carter and Laurie Woodle. He was predeceased by his beloved grandfather, Billie Carter, and his dear grandparents, Paul and Carol Hill. His legacy is carried forward by his devoted wife, Jessica Carter, whom he married on May 9, 2015. Together, they built a life filled with love and laughter over 11 beautiful years, raising their two precious children, Brycen and Hadley, who were the center of Joshua's world. His family was his pride and joy, and nothing made him happier than spending time with them.

A graduate of Berkeley High School in 2008, Joshua furthered his education at Charleston Southern University, earning his Bachelor's degree in Business in 2017. He found his calling as a project manager at Nelson Plumbing, where his dedication and passion for his work were evident. Joshua was known for his exceptional ability to manage complex projects while maintaining a warm and friendly demeanor.

Joshua was an active member of Berkeley Lodge 269 and serving as Past Master at Mt. Hope 128. A 32nd Degree Mason through the Scottish Rite, Valley of Charleston. As an Omar Shriner, Joshua was also a former member of the Hillbilly Outhouse 1 and Omar Ranglers. His commitment to these organizations reflected his generous spirit and desire to serve others.

An avid outdoorsman, Joshua relished the thrill of fishing and hunting, passions he lovingly shared with his son, Brycen. Known for his resourcefulness, he could fix or build just about anything and was always eager to lend a helping hand to those in need. His friends fondly remember him as a 'big teddy bear'—stern but with an enormous heart and a talent for humor that could brighten any room. Joshua was a protector of those he loved and a loyal friend, always ready with a joke to lift spirits. Joshua is survived by his parents, Billy (Susan) and Laurie (Jay); his brothers, Brian (Jolene) and David (Jessica); and his cherished grandmother, Loma Carter. He leaves behind adoring nieces and nephews—Gianna, Brendan, Maggie, and Lucas—along with many beloved aunts, uncles, and cousins who will forever hold his memory close.

A celebration of Joshua's life will be held on June 19, 2026, at 10:00am at Freedom Church, located at 1425 Cypress Gardens Rd, Moncks Corner, SC, 29461. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children, an organization close to Joshua's heart.

Joshua Daniel Carter lived a life full of love and laughter. He will be deeply missed, but forever remembered by all who knew him.
