Linda Susan Royce

Linda Susan Royce, 71, of Ladson, passed away peacefully on July 29, 2026, surrounded by her family.

Born November 18, 1954, Linda was the beloved daughter of the late James H King and Leona B King. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, proud grandmother, cherished sister, and loyal friend to many. Her life was defined by her welcoming demeanor, always having a seat and a warm meal for anyone to sit at her dinner table.

Linda shared 46 beautiful years of marriage with her beloved husband, Jim Royce. Together they built a family on the values of helping where you can, working together, and doing the right thing.

She is survived by her loving husband, Jim Royce; her children, Nicholas Royce, and David Royce and wife Jen; and her treasured grandchildren: Luke, Camden, Noelle, and Evelyn.

Linda is also survived by her sisters Barb Rinell and Ginny Shinn, and joins her late brother Curtis King, and brother-in-law Jim Rinell in the eternal glory of God in Heaven. She was a beloved aunt to many nieces and nephews.

For 35 years, Linda dedicated herself to educating children at the elementary level. She started her career in Otho, Iowa before moving to the Charleston, SC area and teaching at College Park Elementary School. There she became one of the school’s most respected and enduring figures. Her impact in the classroom spread into the community, with many former students and parents stopping to say “Hi, Mrs. Royce!” with a smile when Linda was out and about.

Outside of work Linda enjoyed days on the boat, spoiling her grandkids, gathering with friends, attending concerts with her husband, and hosting her marquee showcase - Sunday lunches. She was a hockey mom and cheerleader when her children were playing sports, and was active with her neighborhood community center.

Above all else, Linda’s pride and joy was Jesus and her family. She was happiest surrounded by those she loved and creating memories and carrying on traditions that will be cherished for years to come. Her kindness, unwavering support, and generous heart will never be forgotten.

Though her presence will be deeply missed, Linda’s legacy lives on through the family she loved so dearly and she countless lives she touched.
