Paul Haynes

Jul 30, 1944 — Oct 15, 2026

Born on July 30, 1944, in Potsdam, New York, to Paul Empey and Marian Haynes, Frederick dedicated his life to service and family. After proudly serving his country in the U.S. Air Force, he answered the call to law enforcement—first working as a detective and then going on to become one of the foundational early police officers for the North Charleston Police Department. Later in his career, he worked at and retired from the Naval Weapons Station in Goose Creek South Carolina.

Outside of his career, Paul had a lifelong passion for his 86 Ford Mustang and, above all, cherished every moment spent with his family.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Janis Haynes, and his mother, Marian Haynes.

Paul is survived by his loving children: his son, Rusty Haynes and his spouse, Bettie Mitchell, of Goose Creek; and his daughter, Courtney Haynes, of Goose Creek. He is also survived by his sister, Sandy Baehm of North Carolina.

His memory will be deeply treasured by his 5 grandchildren—Marion Haynes of Goose Creek, Taylor and Abigail Haynes of Moncks Corner, and Camryn and Gianni Hamilton of Goose Creek—as well as his 7 great-grandchildren, all of whom brought immense joy to his life.
