Rosemarie Dixon

Rosemarie Dixon, of Prestwick Court in Summerville SC, passed away peacefully on December 10, 2025. She was the loving wife of Albert Dixon, with whom she shared 63 years of marriage.

Rosemarie was born on February 14, 1940, in the village of Schmiedeberg in the German-occupied Sudetenland region of Czechoslovakia. Her early childhood was marked by the upheaval of post-war Europe. At the age of six, she was smuggled out of the Russian-occupied territory with her family in a boxcar, eventually resettling in West Germany.

As a young woman she worked as a seamstress, a skill she carried throughout her life. It was during this time that she met her future husband, Albert, who was serving in Germany as an Airman First Class in the United States Air Force. They were married by the local Bürgermeister on February 21, 1962, beginning a partnership defined by devotion, resilience, and deep affection.

In 1963, the newlyweds emigrated to the United States and made their home in Delran, New Jersey. In 2000, they relocated to Summerville, where they built the life they would enjoy for the next 25 years.

Rosemarie loved to travel, returning often to Germany to visit family and to reconnect with her heritage. She also cherished memorable trips to the Virgin Islands and the Grand Canyon. She took particular delight in visiting casinos in New Jersey and North Carolina, developing a confident instinct for choosing a lucky slot machine. A true lover of German cuisine—especially authentic German bread—she enjoyed sharing meals and conversation with those close to her.

Though her nature was quiet and reserved, Rosemarie’s kindness, compassion, and gentle spirit were unmistakable. She was a devoted wife, a loyal friend, and a warm presence to all who knew her.

She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
