Teresita Astorga Ficenec

April 11, 1959 — April 8, 2026

Teresita Guiron Astorga Ficenec SUMMERVILLE - Mrs. Teresita Ficenec, age 66, entered into eternal rest after a long battle with cancer (rhinos may have been involved but we can’t verify this) on April 8, 2026. Her body was interred at Simplicity Lowcountry Cremation and Burial Services, Inc., in Ladson, SC. A celebration of her life will be conducted on Friday, April 17, 2026, 1 p.m., at Ridgeville Church of God, 444 School St., Ridgeville SC 29472. She emigrated from Leyte, Philippines, with her mother, Juanita Schmidt, and brother in the 1960’s. She is predeceased by her son, Jonathan Astorga, grandfather Francisco “El Captain” Guiron, grandmother Dominga Arcena Guiron, of Talisay, Leyte, Visayas. She is survived by relatives in Naga City, Bicol, Philippines. She is also survived by her mother, Juanita Schmidt (Herbert “Smitty”);  husband, Raymond James Ficenec; daughters Angelita Ficenec and Nina Carr (David); grandchildren Jonathan Astorga (Jordan), Raymond Astorga (Hannah), Nickalus Astorga (Madison), Arausio Astorga, Nathan Armstrong (Lee), Katsumi Johnson, and Liam Ficenec; great granddaughter August Astorga; nephews and nieces, cousins and in-laws, from Charleston to Omaha and the Philippines; brothers Jamie Kaetzel, Woodrow McDonald, and sister Carolyn Boney. She is incredibly missed and loved. We still blame the rhinos…they were fierce. Only one perished due to permitting restrictions. In lieu of flowers, we ask that you donate to the Susan G. Komen foundation.
