Terry Cecil Reed

Terry Cecil Reed, longtime resident of Summerville SC since 1986, passed away on Sunday June 28, 2026 at the age of 67. Terry was born on May 17, 1959 in Sissonville West Virginia and was raised by his parents Vernon Cecil Reed and Della Mae Harvey, alongside his siblings: Pansy, Kitty, Joanne and Kenneth. Terry graduated from Sissonville High School and at the age of seventeen, he joined the United States Navy and served 30 dedicated years, ranking as Quarter Master Chief Petty Officer E-7, specializing in Navigations: plotting courses, managing nautical charts and overseeing bridge watch duties, while being a leader and mentor to many.

Terry loved his family and friends and enjoyed playing basketball, baseball, hunting, fishing, camping, everything outdoors, working out, tending to his yard, traveling, going to the beach, cooking and enjoying life to the fullest as he saw fit.

Terry is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Teresita Reed, their only child, Terrence “Terry” Reed and their adopted son, James Mcalister. He is also survived by his siblings Kitty Tincher and Kenneth Reed, as well as his loving nieces (whom he loved like his own daughters) Missy Loudin, Mindy Pauley and Samantha Reed.

At his request, there will be no funeral, service or memorial. Terry wanted his loved ones to remember all the memories, laughter and love that they shared in life. In lieu of flowers and in memory of, please donate to St Judes Children’s Research Hospital. St Jude’s has always been a passion of Terry’s as he always said “No child should ever have to suffer.”
