Jun 11, 1945 — Aug 2, 2025
Alan David Ballow, 80, of Isle of Palms, died unexpectedly on August 2, 2025.
Born in Philadelphia, Alan grew up in Vineland, New Jersey, with his parents Albert and Selma (Goldstein) Ballow and siblings Faith Silnutzer and Elayne Weinstein. He earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Illinois and proudly served in the U.S. Navy Submarine Fleet, which gave him the opportunity to travel throughout the world.
Alan and his wife made their home on Isle of Palms, where he embraced an active coastal life. He loved sailing his Hobie Cat, kayaking, windsurfing, paddle boarding, biking, and playing table tennis. He was actively involved with surf clubs, including doing the surf report just prior to his death.
He is survived by his devoted wife Beverly (Painter) Ballow, his stepson Ethan Chase and his wife Susan (Moran) Chase, his beloved grandchildren Rebecca and Emily, his sister Elayne, and several nieces and nephews.
All who knew Alan are invited to a remembrance at The Coastal Retreat 2101 Palm Blvd on Isle of Palms, Tuesday, September 16th at 5:00 p.m.
