Benjamin B Bozardt

Benjamin B. Bozardt (“Ben”) of Summerville, South Carolina, passed away on August 29, 2026, at the age of 85.

Ben proudly served his country for eight years in the United States Air Force. Following his military service, he went on to build a 30-year career with the South Carolina Department of Environmental Control before retiring.

Ben spent many happy years with his wife, Janette, whom he affectionately called “Ms. Jan,” until her passing in 2013. He was a devoted Atlanta Braves fan and rarely missed an opportunity to watch his favorite team play. In 2019, Ben was treated to his first and only Braves game in Atlanta by his “Best Buddy Rick,” husband of his granddaughter Kara—the apple of his eye. It became a treasured memory for them both.

Baseball was only one of the things Ben enjoyed. He could play a pretty mean game of Bingo—and he certainly loved winning those “BINGO BUCKS.” He also enjoyed going out to eat at his favorite restaurants, especially on free pie day. Wherever Ben went, he never met a stranger.

Ben is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Chris and Linda Evans; his granddaughter, Kara, and her husband, Rick Rechtorovic; his sister, Patsy Williams of Ladson; and several cousins.

Following the passing of Ms. Jan, Linda became Ben’s lifeline and caregiver, remaining by his side and caring for him through his final hours.

Ben was predeceased by his beloved wife, Janette Bozardt, and his son, Scott Evans.

More than anything, Ben will be remembered as a truly good man who loved his family. In his later years, he gave them countless laughs, stories, and memories they will continue to cherish.

Of all the things Ben’s family will carry with them, perhaps one of the greatest is something he made sure they heard often:

“LOVE YOU, MEAN IT!”
