Betty P. Black

Betty Poston Black of Charleston, SC was born on June 22, 1934 in Florence, SC and passed away on July 8, 2026 at the age of 92. She was a loving mother and wife of the late Raymond Black. She was the oldest daughter of the late William Coy and the late Elizabeth Turner Poston. She was a member of Aldersgate Methodist Church in North Charleston.

Betty is survived by her two sons: Jim, and his wife Adele of West Palm Beach, FL; and Chris of Charleston. She also leaves behind three grandchildren; Jamie Black Cruz of Marina, CA; Morgan Elliott-Black of Minneapolis, MN; and Devin Black of Delray Beach, FL.

Betty had a lifelong passion for flowers and gardening. She was a longtime member of the Camellia Garden Club of Greater Charleston and a former South Carolina State Flower Show Judge.

The family is planning a Memorial Service for the Fall of 2026 at Aldersgate Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of your choice in memory of Betty.
