Debra "Debbie" Ann (Nash) Shaw

December 13, 1955 – August 12, 2026

Debra "Debbie" Ann Nash, 70, passed away on August 12, 2026, in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, after living with Alzheimer's disease for nearly ten years.

Debbie was born on December 13, 1955, in Union, South Carolina, to William "Bill" Perry Nash Sr. and Ruth Foster Nash. She grew up in Union and graduated from Union High School, spent years in Spartanburg, and made Mount Pleasant her home in 1999.

Debbie was married to Ted Blumenfeld, with whom she had her daughter, Holly, and later to Charles "Chuck" Shaw, with whom she had her son, Christopher. While raising her two children, she gave the job of motherhood everything she had and encouraged them to always be the best version of themselves.

Debbie grew up without much and never took things for granted. She had an eye for beautiful things and loved fashion, decorating, and growing flowers. She also loved yoga and fitness and enjoyed teaching various fitness classes. Debbie had a vibrant spirit and could make an ordinary day feel like a special occasion. People were drawn to her infectious smile. Even in the last months of her life, Debbie danced wherever there was music, whether or not anyone else joined her.

What Debbie loved most were her grandchildren, who knew her as Boppey. She found tremendous joy in watching them grow and in making memories with each of them.

Debbie is survived by her daughter, Holly (Dan) Carter, and her son, Christopher (Allison) Shaw; five grandchildren, Anabelle, Brooks, Sutton, Blakely, and Charlie; her sister, Susan Comer; plus her nieces and nephews, Tim, Tiffany, Teala, Nicole, and Haley.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her three brothers, Eddie, Perry, and Tommy Nash.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, October 11, 2026, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Goldbug Island in Mount Pleasant. Family and friends are invited to gather, share memories, and celebrate the spirit she brought into so many lives.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in Debbie’s memory.

The family is especially grateful to the staff of Mount Pleasant Gardens for the loving care and home they provided Debbie during her final four years, and to Teri Ostrom, Pilar Kriegal-Haeflanger, and Dodie Rodgers for being her personal angels, dear friends, and caretakers.

Boppey's love and laughter live on in her children, grandchildren, friends, and everyone who knew her. We know she is watching over us, dancing, and creating beautiful things in heaven, just as she did on earth.

2 Timothy 4:7 “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.”
