Eileen Catherine O'Connell DeAngles
Nov 20, 1929 — Aug 13, 2026
Eileen Catherine O'Connell DeAngles passed away at home surrounded by her family, her beloved animals, and her amazing friend and sitter, Rose Marsh.
Eileen was born to James O'Connell and Catherine Maney. She earned her Bachelor's Degree from Cortland State Teachers College and spent her entire teaching career at Chenango Forks Central School in Chenango Forks, New York, where she predominantly taught third grade. One of the highlights of her career was her students' production of The Wizard of Oz.
Those who knew Eileen will remember her as feisty, competitive, and independent, as well as a loving mother and devoted wife. She was an avid card player and enjoyed swimming, golf, reading, and shopping. She was especially proud of her hole-in-one on the golf course. Eileen also had a lifelong love of animals and treasured traveling with her husband and family.
Eileen was preceded in death by her beloved husband of more than 60 years, Millet Roger DeAngles; her cherished grandson, Ryan Andrew Howey; and her siblings, Jimmy O'Connell, Mary Lunga, Pat O'Connell, and Danny O'Connell.
She leaves behind her children, Millet DeAngles (Deborah), Jamie DeAngles, Nancy Van Der Riet, Frank DeAngles (Mari), Kate Howey, and Eileen Wallace (William); her grandchildren, Vincent DeAngles, Frank DeAngles, Maureen Stokes (Lee), Kristin DeAngles, Millet DeAngles, and Bryan Van Der Riet; and her brother, Richard O'Connell (Nancy).
Per her wishes, funeral services will be private and held for family only.
The family extends special thanks to Edisto Hospice for their care and support.
