Elisaveta Yosifova
Jun 15, 1939 — Sep 14, 2026
Elisaveta “Lisi” Yosifova entered into eternal rest on September 14, 2026, peacefully in her sleep and surrounded by her family.
Lisi, lovingly called “Baba” (Grandma) by her family and friends, was born in Sofia, Bulgaria, in June of 1939 to Anna and Haralambi. After graduating from high school, she began working for a clothing company, where she became the lead embroidery specialist. Her extraordinary talent and dedication to her craft were recognized throughout her career for remarkable artistry and unmatched craftsmanship. Over the course of seven decades, Lisi created countless beautiful handmade articles of clothing and pieces of home décor, leaving behind a legacy of artistry that will be cherished by all who knew and admired her work.
In 1958, she met the love of her life, Petar Yosifov, and they were married a few years later. Together, they built a beautiful life in Sofia and loved opening their home to family, friends, and neighbors. They enjoyed hosting, traveling, attending concerts and the theater, and sharing life’s special moments with loved ones.
Music and the arts were always part of their lives. Petar was a talented musician who loved playing his accordion and singing with friends.
After the passing of her beloved husband, Lisi devoted her life to her daughter’s family. She treasured the time she spent with them and found great joy in being a loving mother, grandmother, and cherished member of her family. Lisi was involved with the Ballroom Dance Club of Charleston, where she became the 100th member of BDC many years ago! She enjoyed watching her daughter and granddaughter dance and was always ready to help with their costumes, using her special talent in embroidery and sewing.
Lisi was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Harry, her husband Petar, and her grandson Daniel.
She is survived by her daughter, Dariana; her son-in-law, Clark; and her grandchildren, Sara and Phillip (Rachel), who will forever carry her love and memory in their hearts.
Lisi will be deeply missed, but her light, kindness, artistry, and the beautiful memories she created with her family will live on for generations to come.
A Celebration of Life for Baba Lisi will be announced at a later date.
