John “Johnny” Nathaniel Lee — March 10, 1955 – September 6, 2026
Fly high and free, Johnny. We will miss you. Be at peace now. You are “home.”
John Nathaniel Lee, who preferred to be called “Johnny,” 71, passed peacefully on Sunday evening, September 6, 2026, on Johns Island, SC. He was the eternal child of Oscar and Caroline Lee of Charleston, SC.
He was the best brother in the world to his beloved sister and caregiver, Donna Lee of Goose Creek, SC. Johnny and Donna shared a lifelong bond that went far beyond that of brother and sister. She was always there for him, offering love, support, and protection throughout his life.
Although challenged in some ways, Johnny was a true angel on earth, bringing joy, peace, love, and tenderness to every person lucky enough to have crossed his path. He leaves behind a tremendous void that no one else can fill.
Johnny’s greatest desire in life was always to “go home” from the care facilities where he stayed when he wasn’t living with family or, really, wherever he happened to be at that moment that wasn’t home.
He is finally “home” and is now with his mother, father, and sister Jean, all of whom predeceased him. We know his family could not wait to see him again and embrace him fully.
He is survived by his loving sister, Donna; sister-in-law, Dr. Jan Crowe, of Goose Creek, SC; cousin, Georgie Wingard Elswick, of Florence, SC; nephew, Shawnne Springman, of Lexington, Kentucky; and honorary sister, Dawn Corley, of Lexington, SC.
Love is eternal, and Johnny will live forever in the hearts and memories of all who knew him and loved him.
Fly high and free, Johnny. We will miss you. Be at peace now. You are “home.” Until we meet again ...
Written by Dawn Corley, honorary sister and lifelong friend
