John Gregory Rose

John Gregory Rose, lovingly known to so many as Poppy or Mr. Rose was born on October 18, 1957, in Philadelphia. He was a hardworking man, a devoted family member, and someone who left a lasting impression on the people fortunate enough to know and love him. He found joy in the simple things and in the moments that brought him comfort and happiness. He could often be found enjoying a round of golf, listening to Pink Floyd, ZZ Top and classic rock and roll. He proudly cheered on his Philadelphia Eagles with a familiar, “Fly, Eagles, Fly!”, diet Coke and Bacardi, good music in the background. More than anything, it was the memories he made and the people he shared with that made those simple moments so special. These are the things his family will carry with them and remember with a smile for years to come. For much of his life, he worked in the automotive business. He was a hardworking man who understood the value of showing up, putting in the effort, and taking care of the people around him. To his family, he was so much more than a grandfather. He was a father, husband, brother, uncle, and friend. Those closest to him, he was simply Poppy. For his granddaughter Ravyn, Poppy was something especially profound. He was a father figure who helped her through some of the most difficult times in her life. He was her safe place, her support, and her best friend. There are too many memories to choose just one, because a lifetime of love cannot be captured in a single story. He was loving, dependable, and deeply important to the people who called him family. His life was made up of countless moments—golf outings, classic rock music, Eagles games, family gatherings, conversations, laughter, and the ordinary days that become the memories we treasure most. He will always be remembered for the love he gave, the strength he offered when others needed him, and the place he held in the hearts of his family. He is survived by his children, Stacey Ramsey, Krystal Ramsey, Brian Ramsey, and Amy Rose; his grandchildren, Ravyn Landrum, Connor Ramsey, Kaitlin Suggs, and Jenna Suggs; and his great-grandsons, Kaiden Brown and Lucas Brown. He is also survived by his brother, Clinton C. (Teri) Rose III; his sister, Kristine (Jeff) Scarry; his nieces and nephews, Clinton C. Rose IV, Justin Rose, Taylor Rose Palmer, Christian Rose, Meghan Scarry, and Ben Scarry; his great-niece and great-nephew, Chloe Rose and Clinton C. Rose V; and his first wife, Jackie Smith. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 39 years, Marylin G. Rose, who passed away in 2023; his father, Clinton C. Rose Jr.; his mother, Barbara Ann (Keller-Rose) Tilley; his stepmother, Arlene Rose; and his brothers, Douglas Rose and Michael Rose. Above all, Poppy will be remembered not simply by the years he lived, but by the lives he touched. He was loved. He was needed. He will always be Poppy and Mr. Rose Fly, Eagles, Fly.
