Kim-Anh Thi Huebner

Oct 5, 1942 — Jul 6, 2026

July 6, 2026 marks the passing of Kim-Anh (nee Phan) Huebner. She was born in 1942 in the village of An Thai Dong in Japanese occupied Viet Nam, French Indo-China. At the age of ten, she was forced to become the family breadwinner following her father's death. Living through the Viet Nam war by any means available, she immigrated to the United States in 1973 before the fall of Sai Gon. In 1975 she met the love of her life, Ensign William Huebner at Pensacola, Florida. They would live and love each other for over fifty years.

Their union would revolve around a family of five children: Nha Nguyen, Dep Swanson, Kim-Lee Rocco, Gary Huebner, and Kellean Huebner. Throughout her life she was an outgoing friend to all who met her. While following her husband on various military assignments, she was employed in a variety of business endeavors, the last of which was owner/operator of Kim-Anh's Vietnamese restaurant located on Ashley Phosphate Road, North Charleston.

In the late 1990's, as relations between Viet Nam and the United States thawed, she traveled frequently to her birth country to visit remaining family and friends. Her latter years were spent as a contented housewife who enjoyed cooking, gardening, singing, and dancing.

She was diagnosed with Bone Cancer in late 2023 and unsuccessfully underwent chemotherapy; ultimately resulting in its progression to Acute Myeloid Leukemia. Throughout her life she subscribed to her tenant of "I laugh with my family; I cry by myself".
