Lida Lee Hiller

Sep 14, 1947 — Nov 13, 2025

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Lida Lee Hiller, 78, on November 13, 2025, in Summerville, SC. Lida was born on September 14, 1947. She was raised in Kahoka, MO, and graduated from Junction City High School in Junction City, KS. Lida later moved to Kansas City, MO, where she lived for most of her adult life. She earned both a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree from Park University in Parkville, MO. Most of her career was spent working at Legal Aid of Western Missouri. After retirement, she moved to Summerville, SC. Lida was known for her endless generosity and love for ALL. Her talents were boundless; she was an avid crafter and seamstress, creating items for others out of pure love. She gave away everything she made—whether it was a knitted scarf, a crocheted baby blanket, or an exquisite quilt. Giving was truly her love language. Lida is survived by three children: Patrick Coates, Hope Hallowell, and Jacob Watson (Kristy); seven grandchildren: Timmy, Cameron, Michael, Daniel, Olivia, Ian, and Kimberly; eight great-grandchildren; and many close friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Hiram and Virginia Hiller, and two sisters, Laura and Lovena Hiller.  Lida found her greatest joy and purpose in being “Grandma” to her beloved grandchildren. Her unconditional love for them will live on through each of them. The family is planning a celebration of life on January 24, 2026 from 2:00-5:00 at The Hideout Bar and Grill in Kansas City.   “We make a living by what we get. We make a life by what we give.” - Winston Churchill
