His Life and Legacy

Reuben E. Cantey Jr., age 77, was born on May 11, 1949, and raised in Awendaw, South Carolina. He lived a life filled with laughter, faith, and love for his family and friends.

Reuben was truly the life of the party. He had a wonderful sense of humor and a special gift for making people laugh. Wherever he went, he brought joy and laughter to those around him. He loved to sing and dance and always knew how to make any gathering more enjoyable. His joyful spirit, infectious laughter, and unforgettable personality will forever be remembered by those who knew and loved him.

Above all, Reuben loved the Lord. His faith was an important part of his life and served as a foundation for the way he lived. He and his loving wife, Frances, faithfully attended Place of Prayer Tabernacle in Huger, South Carolina. His love for the Lord, his devotion to his family, and the memories they shared will always hold a special place in the hearts of those who loved him.

Reuben also had a passion for fishing. It was one of his favorite pastimes and something he truly enjoyed. Whether he was fishing, singing, dancing, or sharing a good laugh, Reuben knew how to appreciate life’s simple pleasures. He believed in enjoying life, making memories, and bringing happiness to those around him.

One of the greatest joys in Reuben’s life was his beloved grandson, Kairo. Reuben loved Kairo dearly, and the bond they shared was truly special. The love between a grandfather and his grandson is a precious gift that lives on through cherished memories. Though Reuben is no longer physically present, the love he had for Kairo will forever remain a meaningful part of his legacy.

Those Left to Cherish His Memory

Reuben leaves to cherish his loving memory his devoted wife, Frances R. Cromwell Cantey, and her three children, Jonathan Cromwell, Katelyn Felder, and Kenton Kelley.

He also leaves behind his beloved siblings, Leah Walsh, Amy Edwards, David Cantey, and Daniel (Agnes) Cantey.

Reuben is also survived by his brothers- and sisters-in-law, Ruby (Jeffrey) Thompson, Bruce (LaCresha) Cromwell, Pandora Cromwell, Aileen Cromwell, and Bernard (Bianca) Hamilton.

He also leaves behind his special nephews, John Walsh, Ryan, and Greg, along with his beloved cousin, Marvin, and a host of other relatives and dear friends who will miss him dearly.

Reuben was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved brother-in-law, Rodney Cromwell (husband of Aileen Cromwell).

Forever in Our Hearts

Reuben E. Cantey Jr. will be remembered for his unwavering faith, his love for family, his joyful spirit, and his ability to bring laughter into any room. He was a man who knew how to enjoy life and made sure those around him enjoyed it, too.

Although his earthly journey has come to an end, the laughter he shared, the love he gave, and the memories he created will continue to live on in the hearts of his family and friends.

His life was a blessing, his memory a treasure, and his love will remain in our hearts forever.
