Rosemary Simone Glatzel
Sep 11, 1940 — Oct 15, 2025
Born in Winona, Minnesota, Rosemary discovered her love of European culture during her junior year abroad in France, where she met the love of her life and future husband, David. Their romance blossomed into a 60-year marriage. Together, they raised a family, built a small business, and traveled the world.
Rosemary was a stay-at-home mother during her children’s early years before becoming a small business owner. In retirement, she made her home in Summerville, SC.
A tireless volunteer, Rosemary gave generously of her time throughout her life. She worked to preserve historic landmarks in Wisconsin, served as a museum docent in Charlotte, and supported her church.
She loved to cook and was often experimenting with new recipes. She was an avid reader with a deep curiosity about European History. Her travels with her husband took them across the globe, and she enjoyed every opportunity to learn and explore.
Rosemary was also known for her strength and resilience. A true "Rosie the Riveter" spirit, she faced every challenge with determination and optimism. After suffering a stroke later in life, she worked hard to regain her independence, remaining cheerful and positive, an inspiration to everyone who knew her.
She is survived by her son Brian (Diana), her daughter Cynthia (David), and four grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, David Glatzel.
A celebration of life will be held at St Luke’s Lutheran Church at 206 Central Avenue in Summerville on Monday, October 27th, at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Lutheran World Relief.
