Sara M Parks

Sara M. Parks, lovingly known as "Memaw," passed away on August 29, 2026, at the age of 79. She was a devoted homemaker whose home and family were her world. Known for her kind heart and thoughtful nature, Sara never hesitated to help others and made everyone feel welcome.

Sara found great joy in caring for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was affectionately known as "Memaw" not only by her family, but also by many others whose lives she touched. She loved tending to her flowers and garden, caring for her pets, cooking for those she loved, and sharing recipes with family and friends. Her funny personality, warm spirit, and love of family gatherings brought people together and created many cherished memories. Thanksgiving and Christmas were especially meaningful to her, as she loved decorating, preparing meals, and filling her home with family.

Sara was the beloved wife of Kenneth M. Parks. She is survived by her children, Angela L. Parks-Durr and her spouse, Terry Durr; Tamala E. Chmiel and her spouse, Fred Chmiel; Kenneth M. Parks II and his spouse, Sarah Parks; and Fields R. Parks and his spouse, Holly Parks.

She also leaves behind her treasured grandchildren: Victoria, Samantha, Harlee, Jeffrey, Lily, Connor, Chelsey, Ty, Austin, Ashlynne, Gabrielle, Taylor, Olivia, Preston, Karolina, Kenneth, Sarahanne, Dylan, Jacob, Kaleb, Xavier, and Amya; as well as her beloved great-grandchildren, Neely, Murphy, Theo, Eloa, Noah, Ellie, Tate, Hazel, Daisy, Corinne, Addison, and Madelyn.

Sara is also survived by her siblings, Johnny Mabry and his spouse, Yvonne Mabry; Cheryl Jones and her spouse, Rex Jones; and Julie Merlin. She also leaves behind her beloved nieces and nephews, Rex Jones Jr., Chris, Chase, Izzy, Haley, and Rebecca, along with many extended family members and friends who will cherish her memory. She was preceded in death by her siblings Rose Cox, Richard Mabry, and Ralph Mabry, and her nephew, Johnathan.

Sara will be remembered for the love she shared, the care she gave so freely, and the joy she brought to family and friends. Her memory will continue to live on through the traditions she passed down, the lives she touched, and the family she loved so dearly.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to MUSC Hollings Cancer Center in honor of Sara's memory.
