Benny Paul Boggess

Benny Paul Boggess, of Lexington, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on September 4, 2026, at the age of 78. He was born in Ghent, West Virginia, on November 10, 1947.

Benny proudly served his country in Vietnam during the 1960s. Throughout his life, he worked as a diesel mechanic and acrylic fabricator, taking great pride in his work and forming lasting friendships with the many people he worked alongside. He loved and respected his coworkers immensely, and those relationships remained special to him throughout his life.

Benny was a faithful member of Red Bank Fellowship Church. He loved the outdoors, especially fishing. Anyone who knew Benny knew just how much he enjoyed it. As he would say, “Give him a line, give him a pole, he’ll go fishing in a fishing hole!” His love of fishing was just one of the simple joys that brought him happiness throughout his life.

Benny was preceded in death by his mother, Pauline Boggess; stepfather, Julius Bell; brother, Jimmy; sister, Patricia; grandsons, Bryan and Jake; and nieces, Tara and Amanda. 

He leaves behind a loving family who will cherish his memory, including his wife of almost 42 years, Margaret Kibler Boggess; his sons, Jerry Paul Boggess and wife Wendy and Brian Keith Kennedy and wife Susan; his brother, Jerry Bell and wife Linda; and his sister, Nancy Houston and partner Richard.

He is also survived by his beloved grandchildren, Jason, Bethani, Allison and her husband, Kelsie, Nicholas, and Adriana and her husband, as well as eight great-grandchildren. He will also be deeply missed by his many beloved nieces and nephews, special cousin Junie, and numerous other cousins, aunts, uncles, friends, and loved ones.

Benny will be remembered for his hard work, his love for his family, his friendships, his faith, and his simple love of life—especially any day that involved a fishing pole and a good fishing hole.

His memory will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing and loving him. 

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 19, 2026, at 1:00 PM at Round Hill Baptist Church, 230 Persimmon Lane, Lexington, SC. Dr. Rev. Clay Faulk will officiate.
